N, N-Di-Methyl-Tryptamine (DMT) is a naturally occurring psychoactive alkaloid that is found in the cells of many forms of plant and animal life. This alkaloid has also been found to be endogenously produced by the human brain (specifically the pineal gland), and new research indicates that it may actually be present in much higher levels than previously thought. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the brains endogenously produced DMT is nullified by another compound which the body also produces, called Monoamine Oxidase (MAO). When exogenous (not produced by the body) DMT is introduced to the body in high enough levels (like when smoked or vaporized) it is able to overpower the bodies naturally produced MAO, and elicits a short but very intense experience.

Many people have referred to DMT as the strongest psychedelic available. It can provide profoundly significant and potent insights into the essence of reality itself, throw the user into intense visual hallucinations, and totally detach any sense of time. Instructions:

The DMT Experience

When a dose of 0.2 mg/kg or more of DMT is consumed, it becomes psychoactive. DMT is a highly potent drug that acts quickly when smoked or vaped; the “peak” of the experience lasts for two to four minutes after use and goes away entirely in fifteen to twenty minutes. The effects of taking ayahuasca brew orally may not show up for up to an hour and may persist for up to 12 hours. Importantly, DMT is not mouth active by itself, thus if you chew or snort it, you will not experience any effects. However, it can be oral psychoactive when mixed with Banisteriopsis caapi, an MAO inhibitor.

Adding DMT to the liquids in vape pens is a more recent method of use that has many advantages, chief among them being its convenience. As long as the right dosage is taken quickly (often requiring multiple “pulls” or “hits” on a vaporiser), vaping DMT can produce hallucinations that are just as strong as or stronger than eating it in more conventional ways.

• Low doses (0.05 to 0.1 mg/kg) of DMT primarily affect physical and emotional states with few to no perceptual hallucinations. For most people this is between 10-20mg of freebase DMT
• High doses (2.0 to 3.0 mg/kg) of DMT will produce rapid, often rotating or pulsating, kaleidoscopic images filled with rich and vividly coloured abstract patterns. Auditory hallucinations are less common and usually aren’t a very prominent feature of the experience but have been reported. For most people this is between 30-40mg of freebase DMT

High doses of DMT are also frequently associated with out-of-body experiences, which are defined as the detachment of awareness from the physical body. In fact, this is one of the “hallmarks” of a high-dose DMT encounter.

In his 2000 book, The Spirit Molecule, psychedelic researcher and psychologist Rick Strassman describes studies during which approximately half of the study subjects reported interactions with “intelligent beings”, “entities”, “aliens”, “guides” or “helpers”. Terrence McKenna, a psychonaut and ethnobotanist, dubbed these creatures “machine elves.” They appear as “clowns, reptiles, mantises, bees, spiders, cactus, and stick figures,” according to Strassman’s artwork. On a number of internet discussion boards, they have also been characterised as being “made of geometric patterns.”

DMT Pharmacology

Primarily an agonist of serotonin (5-HT) receptors, dimethyltryptamine has the strongest affinity for the 5-HT2A receptor. Numerous other receptor types, like as dopamine and sigma receptors, are impacted, although the effects of these interactions are not fully known.
